The superb British cellist Louise Hopkins is accompanied by Australian pianist Piers Lane, an artist commended by Gramophone for his ‘superb musical intelligence, sensitivity and scintillating brilliance.’

Their programme is a wonderfully varied musical feast that includes Sibelius’s brooding Malinconia, Janáček’s Pohádka – a shimmering three-movement work based on a fairy tale – and Beethoven’s mercurial C major Sonata. The Rachmaninov rounds off in a lyrical and Romantic vein.
